The intended Digital ID, to be introduced in the UK, was announced at the Labour Party Conference by Sir Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, and has set the country buzzing (as it should). The question now being widely posed is whether Digital ID is evidence of the biblical prophecy concerning the last days.

Many Bible prophecy interpreters see both technocracy (the rise of technology-driven, expert-led governance) and globalist initiatives like Agenda 2030 (the UN’s sustainable development goals) as fitting into end-time scenarios by paving the way for centralized global control. While neither “technocracy” nor “Agenda 2030” are mentioned explicitly in the Bible, several patterns described in biblical prophecy—especially in the Book of Revelation—have clear parallels in contemporary developments:

• Revelation 13 and the Mark of the Beast: Revelation warns of a time when buying and selling will be tightly controlled—a world where “no one can buy or sell except the one who has the mark.” Many see the move toward a cashless society, digital IDs, and increasing surveillance—as seen with cutting-edge technologies and the ambitions in international projects like Agenda 2030—as possible tools for such control.

Rise of Global Governance: Revelation 17-18 and Daniel 7-8 describe a coming system where a central authority (often called the Beast system or Antichrist government) dominates the world. Current trends toward international cooperation, global policy-setting, and technocratic management of economies, health, and information are interpreted by some as laying groundwork for this prophesied order.

Technological Explosion: Daniel 12:4 says that, in the end-times, “knowledge shall be increased.” Many link this with the present exponential growth in technology, especially AI, bioengineering, and digital networks. Some teachers warn that a system run by algorithms, surveillance, and elite managers could easily undermine individual freedoms and force conformity, echoing prophetic warnings about loss of liberty and coercion to participate in the global order.

Agenda 2030 as an “Instrument” for the Antichrist: Some prophecy commentators argue that the UN’s Agenda 2030, by promoting global standards for economics, environment, health, and governance, offers a ready-made framework for the type of centralized authority described in biblical end-times prophecies. They see its use of advanced technology for monitoring and enforcing compliance as potentially aligning with the “mark” system in Revelation.

In sum, while biblical prophecy never directly references modern technocracy or Agenda 2030, many see these trends as precursors or vehicles through which the future “beast system” of Revelation could emerge. These interpretations urge vigilance—watching for “signs” that the infrastructure for end-time prophecy is falling into place, particularly as technology and global governance rapidly evolve.

Digital currency and surveillance systems are frequently discussed by Bible prophecy interpreters as technologies that could enable the kind of global control described in Revelation’s warnings about the beast system:

• Cashless Transactions & Digital Currency: Revelation 13:16–17 describes a scenario where “no one can buy or sell except the one who has the mark.” Modern digital currencies and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) are fully traceable, making it possible for a central authority to control, allow, or restrict all financial transactions. This could fulfil the prophecy by forcing compliance with a mark, digital ID, or other requirement to participate in the economy.

Surveillance Systems & AI: The global spread of biometric tracking, face recognition, and AI-powered surveillance means nearly every movement and transaction can be monitored. These technologies could be used to enforce loyalty to the beast system—ensuring only those who comply can access services, buy, or sell.

Prophetic Parallels: The Bible talks about a system that restricts commerce, enforces conformity, and punishes those who refuse the mark. Digital payment systems linked to biometric or AI identification could be implemented to this effect, making it impossible to function in society without submitting to centralised rules.

For many Christians, these technological trends raise “apocalyptic red flags.” They are seen as the practical tools that could allow fulfilment of Revelation’s warnings, as they make total control of buying, selling, and movement possible for the first time in history. While the technology itself is not inherently evil, prophecy teachers warn that the potential for abuse aligns closely with end-time scenarios described in Scripture.

It is essential, therefore, that Christians who are keeping watch, as Jesus commanded in the Bible, make themselves aware of what is happening as Globalists close ranks and infiltrate governments whilst introducing AI into every aspect of our lives. People need to be in a position to discuss these matters knowledgeably and coherently with anyone and everyone who shows concerns about the coming of Digital ID.

It is suggested by many that all people need to do is SAY NO to the Digital ID, which, once accepted, will enable the government to go much further with surveillance.

However, there is a lack of awareness among the public about what is really happening, which is apparent when listening to people being interviewed on the street (by WION News). People were presumably asked if they thought Digital ID was sound. (The clip above is from the video created by WION)

Few people seem to question the proposal, as they do not appear to appreciate that, although we already provide data about many aspects of our lives to the Government, it is not yet consolidated into a single source.

The reality of the situation is that Digital ID will lead to complete control, as it connects and converges all the various services into one source, thus allowing controllers to see into every aspect of our lives, including tax, health, transport, finance, social media, and many others. This would enable controllers to decide whether you are a good citizen or not. This is what is happening in China with their Social Credit System, a system that, it is believed, is being developed in the UK and other Western Nations.
